Being Eva and Daniel's mom is awesome - They are what I never knew I always wanted (to paraphrase a character from "Fools Rush In").

Painters for Hire

Although Daniel looks a little like a butcher . . . it's his sister's "brella" (that's what we call aprons).

Another funny misnomer a la Eva - "magnifying net" - it's what we call butterfly nets. Recently, Eva got a magnifying glass which she is enamored of and uses to look at everything (mac n' cheese at dinner, bugs outside, her brother's hair...) so I can only surmise that she saw the similarity between the shapes of the two items - and therefore combined their names. She also likes to "base" the ball. You know, when you use a bat to swing at a ball - that's called "basing" as in "baseball." Right? And in our whirlpool tub, she always asks to have the "planes" turned on, instead of "jets." I love how kids' minds work - it's like magic!

As for Daniel, he's big into identifying things now - he walks over to Henry and bends down, right into his face, and says in his little deep voice, "BABY!" These utterances are definitely capitalized and followed by an exclamation point! He also finds his puppy from Christmas and Eva's kitty she sleeps with and does the same thing. But his best new trick, in my opinion anyway, is when he gives a hug and, while squeezing tightly, says, "UG!" Who wouldn't want an UG from him?
